History in Nutshell

    A meeting of the parishness of St. Theresa's Church Kavalam was held at the parish hall on 14 March 1926 in which the decision to start a new English Middle School at Kunnumma was taken. This was a blessing to the children belonging kunnumma and kavalam which were the places having very poor transportation facilities during that time.

    As a result of the hard work and determination of the people the Middle School was started functioning in 1927. Mar. James Kalasseri, the Arch Bishop of Changanasserry, Monsignor Kallarackal and the Parish Vicar Rev. Fr. Jacob Kandankari were the persons who took pain to attain this goal.

    Primary Classes were started under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Jacob Varikkattu and Sri. Francis Vithuvattickal. The School got Government recognition in1960.

    In 1982 the state government in its policy decided to up grade some primary schools as high schools in Kerala and the government order in this effect was also issued immediately. By exploiting this golden opportunity, Sri. Antony Nilavunthara, then PTA President of the school with the consent of the Vicar, convened a meeting of the parents of the school in order to discuss this issue. A memorandum was submitted to the Education Minister Sri. P. J. Joseph for the schools upgradation. A committee was also formed and which advanced the amount required for meeting the initial running expense.

    It was Dr. Oommen Joseph Assaruparampil who donated $ 5000 and two class rooms were constructed by utilizing it.

    The official inauguration of the High School section was performed by Sri. T. M. Jacob, the Education Minister on 16 December 1993. Dr. K. C. Joseph, MLA of Kuttanadu presided over the meeting. It was he who contributed much to this school as the representative of the people of kuttanadu.

   Rev. Fr. George Thaicherry, Sri. K. M. Joseph Kaithaparampu, Sri. Thommy Padaram, Sri. V. J. Chacko Vadapparampu, Sri. M. C. Chacko Muttunkal, Sri. T. P. Varghese Varikkattu were the former Headmasters of Little Flower U. P. School Kavalam.

    The school buildings were constructed with the financial assistance of some benefactors of this locality.

    The following Headmasters rendered their valuable services in this school.

    Now there are 20 divisions (std I-X) and about 800 students in this school. There are 28 teachers and 4 non-teaching staff working here. Sree. K. C. James Manimala is the present Headmaster who was appointed on 1st, April 2010.

    It is the vision of Rev. Fr. Abraham Thayyil the present Manager of the school our institution attained 100% result in the SSLC exam 2011. Be pledge to continue our excellence in both academic and co-curricular performance. Our school has been attaining overall championship in veliyanadu sub- district youth festival for several years.

    The corporate managers Rev. Fr. Jacob Nellikkunnathu, Rev. Fr. Jose. P. Kottaram, Rev. Fr. Joseph Chirakkadavil, and the local managers Rev. Fr. Joseph Puthenpura, Fr. Joseph Manalil, Fr. George Olukkappady, Fr. Ckacko Valiyaveettil, Fr. George Chalangadi were the emirent personalities who contributed much to the progress of Little Flower High School Kavalam from very inception.

    His grace Fr. Joseph Powathil has played a vital role in the development of this institution in this backward area.
