It all began from a scratch.At a time when the society here was virtually unlit by the light of letters this school was started as a Lower Primary school in 1878 under the inspiring guidance of Rev.Fr.Maruthumkunnel to serve the people as a Light House of Knowledge

The school was elevated to the status of a High School in 1953 during the tenure of Fr.L.G.Chittoor as the manager.It was inaugurated by His Holiness Mar.Valeriyan Gracian ,Archbishop of Bombay.

The school marked its centennial celebrations in 1978.The Higher Secondary Section was started in 2000. Every school,worth its name,enjoys a place of prominant as a centre which encompasses and attracts personalities from various walks of life.In this sense the school has played a stellar role in acting as a centre of excellence in the educational, social,political and cultural scenario of Kerala

Ever since inception the school has stood in the forefront with an overall excellence in the curricular and co-curricular activities alike. The school has won accolades at the district and state youth festival and has contributed a galaxy of distinguished personalities,professional artist and sportsmen to the nation.
