St.Berchmans Higher Secondary school is an aided school situated at the heart of Changanacherry. The administration of this prestigious school is vested in the archdiocese of Changanacherry.
The medium of instruction is both Malayalam and English. There are parallel English Medium divisions from Standard V to X. In the higher secondary section, the medium of instruction od course is English. The School aims at preparing the students to appear for the public examination of Standards X and XII in the Kerala State Board syllabus. A high standard of teaching, discipline, development of moral and social habits and various co-curricular activities which makes the puils perfect and upright citizen are the main features of the education imparted by us. The school has a team of well qualified, competent, dedicated and experienced teachers are selected after a written examination and interview held under the auspices of the Corporate Management. The school campus has an area of ten acres. The school started as residential and still provides residential accommodation for 100 students. The boarding house is manages by a residential priest as rector, assisted by a seminarian as perfect and by the members of the teaching staff. Thus the school envisages an effective schooling with emphasis on the student acquisition of central learning skills and his multifaceted development. It is our very intent to raise the level of competency with the passing of every year. | |

Patron saint of our school, is regarded as a model of excellence and holiness for students. He was born in the town of Diest in Flanders on March 13, 1599. His aim was to become a Jesuit priest. In 1915 he was enrolled in the Jesuit College at Malines. A year later he entered the novitiate. He was an enthusiastic student, an excellent actor and orator. He was a young man of exemplary life, pure conscience and great perfection. John Berchmans could not complete his studies. He died of a contagious disease on August 13, 1921. He was beatified by Pope Pius IX in 1965, and canonized by Pope Leo XIII in 1888
