The village Mithrakary is situated on the bank of the river Pamba which is a branch of the Manimala river. The emergence of St. Xavier’s High School in 1948 with 35 girl students gave a new hope to the rural villages in Kuttanad. Rev. Fr. Philip Olassayil started the school under the auspices of the Carmalite Convent. Students came from various parts of Kuttanad. Rev. Sr. Anesia Alencherry was the first Headmistress.
Rev. Fr. Joseph Kaithaparampil the then manager and Sr. Thressiamma Sebastian, Headmistress took initiative for upgrading this school into Girls High School. The foundation stone was laid to the 100 meters building by Rev. Dr. C. J. Chittoor, the Vicar General of Changanacherry Mar. Mathew Kavukattu inaugurated and blessed the school building in the presence of Rev. Fr. Antony Mylady, the corporate manager. |
