BISHOP KURIALASERRY MOTHER CHANTHAL
St.Teresa's began its endevours in enlightening masses in the year 1916.The school became a reality after the constant efforts and humanitarian interests taken by Mother Chanthal who happened to be the very first member of the SABS community.Mother Chanthal was so much inspired and moved by the social and spiritual activities of the Spanish reformist Saint, St.Teresa of Avila and she has chosen her favorite Saint's name to address this new school.
There was a hillock in the then Vazhappally village and by the fall of 1917, His Grace Bishop Thomas Kurialassery bought some portion of that land and built a convent and a new school building there. The primary school started functioning in the year 1919. Only in 1951, the School was transformed as a full-fledged High School. In the year 1952,the first batch of students of this school appeared for the SSLC Examination. Later, the school was merged with the Corporate Management of Schools, Arch-Diocese of Changanacherry. In the year 1990, English medium classes also started here.
Today the school boasts about having the name of Saint Alphonsa in its previous rolls. Saint Alphonsa studied here for almost 2 years (Std VIII & Std IX). Now the school is managed by the SABS community.
